WorkCompEDI, the leading EDI clearinghouse to the property & casualty industry, announced today it has achieved full accreditation from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) in two (2) categories:

  • HNAP-EHN Accreditation – recognizes the accredited party has demonstrated firm control of its risk management programs, and uses effective controls that appropriately minimize threats. HNAP-EHN accreditations prepares a company for third party audits including HIPAA/HITECH compliance audits conducted for the Office of Civil Rights (OCR); trading partner audits, and state compliance (EHNAC accreditation is required for processing healthcare transactions in the states of Maryland and New Jersey).
  • OSAP Accreditation – assesses an organization in areas such as privacy and confidentiality measures, level-of-service and escalation procedures, transaction response times, and systems availability. It also assesses the security infrastructure and data integrity measures including disaster recovery, business continuity, contingency plans, and intrusion detection and response.

EHNAC Accreditation Programs

EHNAC-accreditation indicates an organization has exceeded industry-established standards and complies with HIPAA regulations in areas such as privacy and confidentiality measures, level-of-service and escalation procedures, transaction response times, and systems availability. EHNAC also assesses security infrastructure and data integrity measures including disaster recovery; business continuity; contingency plans; and intrusion detection and response. The program also evaluates transaction processing efficiency; ability to comply with generally-accepted, industry-standard data formats; and audit trail capabilities.

  • Reduce risk to PHI and operations through the demonstration of a risk management program with effective controls that appropriately minimize threats.
  • Prepare your organization for third party audits including HIPAA/HITECH compliance audits that are now being conducted for the Office of Civil Rights (OCR); trading partner audits (some payers require EHNAC accreditation as a condition of processing their transactions); and state compliance (EHNAC accreditation is required for processing healthcare transactions in the states of Maryland and New Jersey).
  • Enhance trust for your customers, trading partners, and other stakeholders.

“At a time when regulatory concerns are keeping healthcare leadership awake at night, a company’s decision to take the necessary steps to ensure trust within its stakeholders and customers that they’re adhering to the latest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality is an important accomplishment,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “Attaining EHNAC HNAP accreditation requires companies demonstrate full commitment to ensuring the security and privacy of health data processing and transactions for their customers and provides a ‘seal of approval’ indicating WorkCompEDI exceeds industry-established standards and complies with HIPAA regulations.”
